This IFASD will be the 21st in a series of meetings, held biennially across Europe and the United States. The first IFASD took place in Nuremberg (Germany) in 1981, and the most recent was held in The Hague (The Netherlands) in 2024.

The 21st International Forum on Aeroelasticity and Structural Dynamics will be held in Goettingen, Germany, from 16 to 18 June 2026. An excursion/technical visit is also planned for 19 June 2026. The Forum will be organised by the German Society for Aeronautics and Astronautics (DGLR).

As in previous years, the Forum topics and sessions will cover key aspects of aeroelasticity and structural dynamics and will be held simultaneously in various conference rooms. The International Committee invites prospective authors to submit abstracts of papers for presentation at the Forum.

Topics/Session subjects will include:

  • Steady/Unsteady Aerodynamics
  • Computational Aeroelasticity
  • Aeroelasticity in Conceptual Aircraft Design
  • Aeroservoelasticity
  • Active Control and Adaptive Structures
  • Dynamic loads
  • Highly Flexible Aircraft Structures
  • Reduced Order Modelling
  • Wind Tunnel and Flight Testing
  • Ground Vibration Testing of Flight Vehicles
  • Flight Vibration Survey and Flight Flutter Test
  • Rotorcraft Aeroelasticity
  • Environmental dynamics and aeroelasticity
  • Experimental Methods in Structural Dynamics and Aeroelasticity
  • High frequency Structural Dynamics, Vibrations
  • High velocity Structural Dynamics, Impacts
  • General Topics in Aeroelasticity (Bridges, automotive components, Wind Turbines…)

The international committee encourages you to contribute to IFASD 2026 with a paper on a topic that aligns with one of the forum topics.

Submit your Abstract here for IFASD 2026!

We look forward to welcoming you to IFASD 2026 in Goettingen!

IFASD 2026 - HOST CITY

GOETTINGEN: City of science and research

Goettingen (Germany), City of science and research, is recognised around the world for top international research and innovation. It is characterised by the high number and close proximity of research institutions across the Göttingen Campus – both inside and outside the University – linked together by inspiring and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Important foundations of modern aviation were researched in Goettingen, so the city is regarded as the cradle of modern aerodynamics. It was here in 1907 that the world‘s first national aeronautical research facility was founded. Also Ludwig Prandtl developed here the boundary layer theory, Hans Joachim Pabst von Ohain tested the precursor of the first jet engine and researchers invented the swept wing, a prerequisite for high-speed cruising flight.

Today, more than 20 wind tunnels and large-scale research facilities are available for experimental investigations. These include facilities that are unique worldwide. In addition, the DLR Goettingen together with the french Aeronautics and Space Research Center ONERA, operates the largest mobile ground vibration test facility in Europe.

So Goettingen will be a perfect place for the 2026’s IFASD.
